North Star Fish Hatchery
Stocking

All species are hatched and raised in our fish hatcheries 60 pond’s and lake’s except the gross carp. Our Brood fish are carefully managed and top quality. The pond’s are drained in the fall and left dry all winter. They are filled in the spring, this gives us a (desire) free pond to stock our fry. With our fish hatcheries there are health papers are available on all species. They are tested each spring by qualified veterinarian.

Grass Carp (White Amur)

We do not hatch them. They are obtained around 4 inches in size and put in ponds of moss and weeds. They soon reach the 8 to 10 inch size. They should be stocked 5 to 8 inch per acre for good weed control.

Transportation and Delivery

We deliver by truck and Guarantee live Delivery only where in the Midwest. Fish are netted and held in holding bins 3 to 7 days (depending on the time of the year) before transporting. This cleans them out and hardens the for the trip. On small orders they can be picked up at the hatchery. We can put them in plastic bags and oxygen and they will go home with you with no trouble. Health papers are available where needed?
